HYDROKINETIC ENERGY IN OPEN CHANNEL RESEARCH
I have conducted a research in CAMGT lab that aimed to explore the availability of water flow energy in urban drainage systems that could be harness to be utilize as alternative energy. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and potential of utilizing water flow energy in urban drainage systems to generate small-scale hydropower which is micro- to pico-scale hydropower as a sustainable and eco-friendly energy source for smart city development. The project involved conducting experiments to measure the water flow energy in an artificial open channel in our laboratory. Three different turbines were designed and fabricated to test and measure the energy which are Axial fan turbine, Archimedes turbine, and Savonius turbine, all attached to a well-designed dynamometer for energy harnessing. In addition, a numerical study was conducted to investigate the performance of these turbines.
MASTER IN BIOENGINEERING RESEARCH ON BRAIN PROTEIN MANIPULATION
In my Master's in Engineering Science majoring in Biomedical Engineering at the Multimedia University (MMU), on which the research was support and funded by MOHE and MMU scholarship under the graduate research assistant (GRA) contract. In this research project, I have conducted a research aimed at discovering therapeutic treatment for Alzheimer's disease by manipulating brain proteins in a microfluidic lab-on-chip device. The technique used to manipulate the proteins was called dielectrophoresis, which involves manipulating dielectric particles under a non-uniform electric field. The research project was divided into three major areas: (1) Tau protein characterization study, (2) Microfluidic study and fabrication, and (3) Dielectrophoresis manipulation experiment. We successfully characterized the Alzheimer's disease-causing protein -Tau protein, and designed and developed a microfluidic device for the manipulating Tau protein. We have successfully manipulated the Tau protein in the microfluidic platform and were able to separate it from a mixture of yeast cells. This research has significant potential to provide a non-invasive therapeutic treatment opportunity by manipulating Tau protein to inhibit and eliminate the clumps and plaques caused by Tau protein, which are neurotoxic to the brain and responsible for neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease.
RESEARCH INVENTION & COMPETITIONS
Through out my master research study, I have participated in several research innovation competitions that have brought me bronze and silver medals for my technology invention. From the research knowledge that I have gained, I extended it and apply the technology into a useful product. By adopting the technique of dielectrophoresis, I have developed a prototype device that is capable to selectively separate and collect micro to nano-sized bioparticle. The novelty and potential of this device for instance, can be greatly use to separate white blood cells and red blood cells from a blood sample. This device is like a pipette that can withdraw and carry small amount of liquid but with a more complex and advance feature that is - it capable to selective carry a specific targeted bioparticle from a mixture of multiple bioparticles in a liquid sample. To put in analogy, you ordered a boba tea with add-on jelly in the drinks, with this "straw" you are able to sip out only jelly or boba at your desire without sip out the other, so it won't become a random case like the usual. Likewise, this device is targeted to realize this ability in the miniature bioparticles realm that brings benefit to the biomedical sector.

Microhydro Device R&D FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY
We have observed that Malaysia experiences frequent and abundant rainfall throughout the year. Unfortunately, rainwater often goes to waste, simply draining away. Concurrently, high-rise buildings face the challenge of high electricity bills due to significant energy consumption, which is unsustainable in the long term. With increasing electricity demand and continuous urban development, it is imperative to identify alternative energy sources that are both green and sustainable. In response to this problem, we brainstormed the idea of harnessing rainwater energy and converting it into electricity. High-rise buildings typically have rainwater downpipes that channel rainwater from rooftops to the ground. Our concept involves developing a microhydro device that can be attached to each rainwater downpipe in a modular system. This device will harness the energy of falling rainwater, convert it into electricity, and either supply it back to the building, store it in batteries, or offset the building's monthly electricity bills.
Turning this idea into reality required extensive conceptual design, brainstorming, and engineering calculations and measurements. It was a complex process involving numerous engineering constraints and challenges. Through our innovative approach and engineering knowledge, we have developed an innovative prototype product that is unlike other. This prototype incorporates several technological features, including microhydro technology design, unique turbine optimization, and a optimized 3-phase permanent magnet generator coil winding. We progressed from initial design and fabrication to iterative improvements and pilot testing, ultimately resulting in a final prototype product.
Through this innovative product, we have had the opportunity to participate in various innovation competitions and exhibitions, where we have been fortunate to receive numerous recognitions, funding, offers, and support from different institutions and agencies. We are deeply grateful for the journey, from the challenging beginnings up until the recognition and awards we have earned. The hard work has truly paid off. We are truly appreciate to all the companies, agencies, and institutions that have supported us and provided us with trust and guidance along the way. Through this commercialisation journey, the experiences and knowledge gained in project management, leadership, liaison, execution, and engineering have been truly extraordinary. All I can say is this journey required immense courage and resilience, and these two are the most valuable qualities I have developed along the way.

I was thrilled to be a part of this project and was grateful for the opportunity to use my knowledge that I have learned in mechanical engineering to help with the design drawing, construction discussions, and steel and wood works. For this project, I started to learn how to use architect software -SketchUp to draw the 3D design of the house. I also not wasted the chance to learn the construction skills from the builders, as well as followed my uncles to hardware store and construction store to do procurement to understand the prices and market of the construction materials and various tools and techniques. Everyday we have new job that brings us new fun to do. We're excited to see the final result of the renovation, it's so fulfilling to have taken part of it from the beginning to completion that we may fully enjoy the fruit of our labour.
COMPOSITE CEMENT PILLAR FOR SEISMIC SIMULATION TEST
Currently, conventional cement faces a challenge with poor adhesion to rebar, which can cause issues with blending and structural integrity. To address this, research has been initiated to develop a new type of composite cement with enhanced adhesive properties to rebar. As part of this research, I have been involved in designing concrete pillars for seismic testing. This investigation aims to evaluate the strength and adhesive properties of the new composite cement, particularly its effectiveness in bonding to rebar, thereby enhancing construction technology and improving structural durability. By conducting a seismic test, we can understand more in-depth into the adhesion of the composite cement to the rebar and even the overall concrete pillar structure rigidity. These testing parameters are crucial to validate an effective composite cement adhesiveness and toughness under high stress and harsh environment.
MOBILE FORKLIFT DESIGN
For DIY and home use, I have designed a compact mobile forklift specifically tailored for lifting heavy furniture and objects in both household and industrial environments.
